SEN Education
What is Special Educational Needs?
Special Educational Needs (SEN), or you may have heard of SEN and Disabilities (SEND) is the term used to describe factors that may affect a child or young person’s ability to learn.
SEN/D can affect:
- Behaviour or ability to socialise
- Social skills (such as forming and maintaining friendships)
- Reading and writing issues (such as dyslexia or processing difficulties)
- Ability to understand, remember and articulate
- Concentration levels (such as ADHD/ADD)
- Social, emotional and mental health
- Physical ability
- Medical conditions
The purpose of education roles in SEN is to reduce the impact that these conditions may have on our school-aged people and provide them with the resources, help and support they need to get the most out of their education.
We have roles such as:
- SEN Teacher Assistant
- 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
