The Labour party has given ministers a 72-hour deadline to agree to provide free school meals for over one million children during the holidays, who would otherwise be left hungry.

This comes as the former prime minister, Gordan Brown, has called Primary Minister Boris Johnson to give 1.5 million children free meals outside of term time but the government have stated, schools are not responsible for ‘provide meals during the holidays.’
A government spokeswoman has said that ‘substantial action’ has been taken to ensure that children do not go hungry.
