As of yesterday, the 20th January 2020, all period products have been made free for every primary, secondary school and college including environmentally friendly reusable pads and menstrual cups. The scheme, brought in by the Department of Education, is to support the ‘period poverty’ throughout the country ensuring that all pupils that need support will have access to products completely free of charge as well as educators having access to an online portal to order new stock.
Period Products
It has come to light that 46 per cent of teenage girls in Britain believe that period poverty has impacted their education, in some cases, not attending school at all; with 32 per cent stating that this has directly affecting them within the last 12 months.
This is terrific that period products are now available to all schools, something that should have been made available a long time ago, however good news to all young ladies in education.
