Higher Numbers than Expected in PRUs

A new report has been released today showing that the number of young people attending under performing PRU’s (Pupil Referral Units) is a lot higher than expected. Alternative provisions with a higher number of pupils are more likely to receive negative Ofsted judgements in comparison to those with fewer pupils. As a result, the proportion of pupils who are attending alternative provisions or pupil referral units, where there have been rated less than ‘good,’ is higher than previously expected.

24 Per Cent of all Pupils in PRUs

In 2018, only 17 per cent of AP and PRUs were rated less than ‘Good’ in Ofsted however, these establishments held a total of 24 per cent of pupils that require them; making them grossly over-subscribed.

It is very difficult to find a schooling establishment that best suits your son or daughter, and you always want your children to have the best education possible which tends to be that you put your child in a unit that caters to their however due to over-subscribing, they may not get the support they need.
