The new Ofsted framework has started this academic year, the first teachers to experience the new inspections have described it as ‘brutal’ and ‘intense.’ One such teacher even wrote to the Ofsted Chief, Amanda Spielman, complaining that her Ofsted experience was ‘soul-destroying.’
Focusing on Curriculum
The biggest significant change in the new framework of Ofsted is the formation of education grade requiring inspectors to place focus on a school’s curriculum instead of focusing on the main subjects.
Although there have been many negative reports of the new framework, there have been numerous positive comments as well; some stating that it allows inspectors to give a more thorough inspection by checking in with all subjects and their leaders instead of just the head of school. Inspectors are calling this the ‘deep dive,’ where they essentially delve into all subjects to ensure that each has the best curriculum.
