Coronavirus – Rikama Education has been talking with various schools throughout Kent and South-East London about the Coronovirus.
Some schools have had no dealings with it, others have had some children sick with colds, and other schools have actually closed as GCSE and A-Level season approaches.
Coronavirus – What can we do?
Although most schools should know what to do in certain circumstances, it is always good to have a guide of what do in schools so that all educational staff are prepared and know what the protocol is.
The best guide that Rikama has found that incorporates the following: Key safeguarding issues if schools are closed, how to keep teaching if schools are closed and what to do if classes are bundled together into bigger teaching groups; is located on the TES website.
What can educators do? Can educators prepare for closure before it happens? Some tips could be:
- Ensure that work is set a couple weeks in advance so it can be sent to students when they are at home. Although they will probably not want to do it when they are at home, school work may provide an escape for them.
- Try to stay in contact with your students via your school e-mail system to ensure data protection and GDPR are all in line.
